Participation, sharing and new challenges: the return of the Menarini Awards 2022 Edition
An event in the name of shared knowledge and experiences, of scientific excellence and multiculturalism, while keeping in mind relevant topics such as environmental sustainability and new digital challenges: these were the main elements of the seventh edition of the Menarini Awards, assigned to Medical Sales Representatives, Area Managers and all the roles of the Group’s external forces operating worldwide. The event was held in the presence of Menarini board members such as Dr. Lucia Aleotti and Dr. Alberto Giovanni Aleotti, shareholders of Menarini, the CEO Elcin Barker Ergun, Dr. Carlo Colombini and other senior managers of the company. The Menarini Awards represent a recognition of highly trained professionals who perform a strategic role on a daily basis: informing doctors, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals about Menarini’s medications, dermo-aesthetic devices and diagnostic instruments – for the benefit of all patients.
The award is given to those who have distinguished themselves for their work dedication, their achievements, their ethical behaviour and professional competence.
The event was created in 2007 with a clear goal: recognising excellence in scientific information. The last official edition is dated October 2019, so 2022 marks the official return of the event to Menarini’s extensive calendar of initiatives.
The international and culturally diverse character of the Awards is easy to see: 65 countries involved, 216 award-winners, and representation from 5 continents of the world, including Australia, despite the over 16,000 km separating it from Italy.
The 2022 edition was especially meaningful because it marked the return of an in-person event after the two years of Covid-19 pandemic, a period in which even medical reporters had to adapt and evolve within a challenging historical and social context – hence the main theme of this seventh edition, #Adapt&Evolve.
It is perhaps because of these last two years that the enthusiasm of the participants, which has always been tangible, has even increased thanks to the renewed opportunity to meet face-to-face. The exchange of information and experiences, and the energy of the participants have always been one of the core features holding the large Menarini family together. The award is a simple but effective way of creating a community and making the universe of the Florentine pharmaceutical group known worldwide, thus building a bridge between different cultures, united by their passion for science and their work.

The field work carried out by medical sales representatives contributes to the expansion of the global frontiers of the Group. It is no coincidence that the size of the company has reached today’s numbers: the capillary work of medical sales representatives is an important way of conveying Menarini’s mission that puts quality first. Thanks to their commitment, dedication and great communication skills, the professionals on the front line succeed in contributing to the dissemination of the company’s values.
The awards ceremony, which took place in the beautiful Leopolda Station in Florence, was a real success and also actively involved the group’s top management, demonstrating their concrete closeness in the collegial moments involving all of Menarini’s divisions from around the world.
“The Menarini Awards mean a lot to our Group,” said Marco Vanoli, Global Field Force Operational Excellence Director. “All business areas were represented, including oncology, which saw for the first time the participation of a winner from Stemline USA. The 2022 edition was even more valuable because we took the awardees to visit the manufacturing centre in L’Aquila, one of the Group’s most important production plants. It was also an edition marked by first times. The most exciting one was the creation of the Field Force Digital Innovation Award, destined to the best digital projects devised directly by Medical Sales Representatives and Area Managers, in order to propose new solutions and innovative services based on digital technologies. It is important for Menarini that participants go home as ‘ambassadors’ and pass on the emotions and feelings they have experienced, because the feeling of being together with colleagues from all over the world is what binds us together. Our hope is that the winners can always be an inspiration through their authority.“
Lastly, there’s one more aspect that should not go unnoticed. The Menarini Awards 2022 have been organised with environmentally sustainable criteria, paying attention to all aspects that potentially have a positive impact on the environment.
For this reason, for example, the participants’ badges were made of wood from FSC-certified forests, the badge lanyards were made of 100% recycled plastic, and water bottles distributed during the ceremony came from a manufacturer that neutralises 100% of CO2 production. Throughout the event only recycled or recyclable plastic material was used. Moreover, the winners were gifted a tree with Treedom, contributing to the environmental sustainability project already activated by Menarini: Treedom is the first website that allows people to plant trees from a distance and follow the story of the project online.
With these premises, the goal for the next years is already clear: to organise a zero-impact 2024 edition of the Menarini Awards.
